Early Morning Flight

Took the old plane out for a flight this morning. Seems to be the only time I can actually use this thing anymore is before 6:00 AM. No mater how much planning and effort goes into getting ready, as soon as I get to the field anytime after 8 AM there is way too much wind to even control the little guy. Trying to control the park flyer through rolls, turns and loops in a 1 acre lot with 5 or so 200 year old tress and a house right in the middle is a little challenging, but sure is fun. Today will be a good day, 45 minutes to flying around and waiting for one of the neighbors to come out and start bitching. Thankfully it was 45 minutes of heaven, without any distraction at all.

Time for a ride

Geesh, now if I could only get her to sit there when I was riding. One of these days I will have to try this, if it works, we may never get off the Harley again.

Traxxis Revo VXL

Ok, so I got my hands on the Traxxis Revo VXL. I have to say that I have had a few cars and trucks over the years, but this one by far is the most fun to run with. Running 2 packs with the series battery connector is incredible. This little 1/16th scale can easily hit the advertised 50 MPH mark. Of course changing the stock pinion with the upgrade provided was a nightmare with the provided tools.

I didn’t have a good set of hex wrenches, so I had to fall back on my favorite tool to get the job done. After about 20 minutes of cutting through the old pinion with the Dremel, I was finally able to pull off the old pinion and get the upgrade attached. I would strongly suggest investing in a good set of tools unless of course you have a very steady hand.

So let the games begin. I have been in town for a couple of days now having a great time exploring the area and taking in some local events. Picked up a few caches in Minnesota and Wisconsin, dropped off a TB and a Geocoin that I picked up on my last trip to Maine. While in the woods searching for a cache, ran into a deer.

Went to the St. Paul “Grand Old Day 2010″ event, which was a blast. Saw Dessa for the first time, what a great show!
